First of all, well done to Alisa for being awarded Star of the Week this week – Alisa was chosen this week for her excellent start to Year 5! She has shown a great attitude towards her learning by always being ready to share her ideas and always wanting to share her work with the class, well done Alisa!
Edward has been chosen to receive for Star Writer this week, he has written a superb narrative based in Ancient China and is working incredibly hard on his handwriting! Well done Edward!
In Whole Class Reading this week we have been reading and exploring a poem called Dragon Song, focusing on 4 dragons; Wind, Fire, Moon and Sea. The children have immersed themselves in this and used excellent comprehension skills when completing a number of tasks.
We have also been looking at poetry in our English lessons, however these have focused more on the performance on poetry. The Koalas thoroughly enjoyed watching some great performances by Michael Rosen and a not so great performance by Mrs McIlroy! The children have then planned and rehearsed their own performances of dragon based poems. Everyone was brave and confident enough to perform their poems in front of the class and some of the expression and movements used were fantastic! This week marks the end of our Date topic in Spanish – the children have been confident when saying and reading the date so far this half term. This week we moved onto asking each other when their birthday is and replying! The Koalas were very successful in this challenge and were able to also translate for each other! Well done!
We cannot believe that our first half term in Year 5 is complete, thank you to everyone for their support and hard work over the last 8 weeks! Enjoy your break and enjoy Halloween!
