Clever Koalas- Autumn 1 Week 1

Maths
In Maths lessons this week, we have been looking at place value, all the way up to 1,000,000 and the value of each digit in each column. Later on in the week, we have been recapping our formal written methods of column addition.

English
In English this week, we began reading ‘The Willow Pattern Story’ where we learned that the iconic blue and white china plates have a background story to them. We explored the love story of Koong Shee and Chang and learned that at the end of this writing unit, we would write an alternate ending to this tale.

Other Subjects
In topic this week, we have started our brand-new topic ‘Dynamic Dynasties’ where we are learning about the families that ruled over Ancient China. First, we learned about the dig at Yinxu, which included the discovery of Lady Fu Hao’s tomb.

In PE this week, we have started practicing our dribbling skills in Hockey, using this to help us with the ‘block tackle’.
