Clever Koalas - Autumn 1 - Week 1

Welcome to the Clever Koalas and to Year 5! We hope everyone had a fantastic summer and enjoyed the great weather we were lucky to have! Each week there will be an update on our learning and all the fun activities we will be participating in!

A huge well done to Cooper for being awarded the Star of the Week this week.Cooper has had an exception start to Year 5, he has been following instructions the first time he is asked and contributing super ideas to class discussions.  Well done Cooper for a fantastic start in the Clever Koalas.

Star Writer this week goes to Fatna for her excellent handwriting during English lessons this week and making sure the first few pages in her new book looked fantastic!

This has been the first full of Year 5 and all of the children have done well remembering the daily routines at Reigate as well as starting some new ones, such as helping with jobs at lunchtime and walking home alone!

In English and Topic we have been learning all about The Shang Dynasty and the powerful female warrior Fu Hao.  We have learnt all about her life and highlights in it, we are going to be using this information to write a biography on Fu Hao for Derby Museum.

In Maths we have been revisiting place value and the column method for subtraction and addition.  The koalas have remembered the steps that are needed to ensure their calculations are accurate and correct.

Well done for a fantastic first week Clever Koalas! Keep up all the great work!
