Maths

We’ve had a wonderful week in Year 1, full of hands‑on learning and brilliant ideas. In Maths, the children have been exploring length and measure, focusing especially on mass and capacity. They have been using scales to read amounts in grams, and learning how to measure liquids in millilitres and litres. 

English

In English, the children have been working hard on writing clear sentences and planning their final piece all about their own imaginary school. Their creativity has been fantastic. A special well done to Jaxxon for his buffalo shark pool. What a scary place to swim!!!

Topic

In Topic, we have been learning about Samuel Wilderspin and why he is remembered for introducing playtime into schools. The children also explored what life was like in Victorian classrooms and were fascinated by how different school used to be.
