Maths

This week in Maths, we’ve been exploring multiplication and division number sentences, using word problems to help us understand what these operations really mean. We’ve also been practising division using the part part whole method, which has helped us see how numbers can be split and combined.  A special well done to Arthur, you worked incredibly hard on understanding what a “whole” number is and where it belongs in a multiplication or division number sentence.

English

In English, we completed our final pieces of writing: instructions for growing a fictional plant. The children absolutely loved letting their imaginations run wild. We had megaladon shark plants, piranha plants, Sonic plants, pea shooter plants and even magical unicorn plants.

Topic

In Topic, we’ve been learning about physical and human features in our environment. The children explored the areas in and around school, identifying natural features and man-made ones. We also learned our school address, helping us understand where our school is in Derby and the UK. We then went and explored the school grounds to look for physical and human features.
