Cheetah Class Summer 1 Week 1

Date: 17th Apr 2026 @ 8:17am

This week in Maths, we explored ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd…), practised counting within 100, and compared numbers using the language greater than, less than, and equal to. The children enjoyed using practical resources and real life examples to help them understand how numbers can be ordered and compared. Well done Margot, you were particularly fantastic at sharing your reasoning with ordinal numbers.

In English, we have been learning all about instructions. We looked closely at what makes a good set of instructions and focused on using clear time words like first, next, then, and finally. The highlight of the week was writing our own instructions for how to make a milkshake.

Our Topic work has taken us outdoors as we’ve been learning about flowers and plants. We named the different parts of a plant, identified a range of wildflowers, and even went on a nature walk to spot them in our local environment. The children were fantastic explorers and showed great enthusiasm for discovering the world around them.
