Maths

In Maths, we are learning about the number 3! We talked about things that have 3 e.g. 3 sides on a triangle or 3 wheels on a tricycle. We also compared numbers 1, 2 and 3, talking about which numbers are bigger and smaller and the order they appear in on number lines. We enjoyed using cubes to represent and compare numbers 1-3! 

Literacy and Topic

One of our new topics this half term is 'Sparkle and Shine', in which we are going to be learning about different celebrations. As part of this, we revisited the celebration Diwali, remembering why it is also known as ‘The Festival of Light’. We also learned some traditional Diwali dances.

In Literacy, we read 'The Quiet Little Firework' by Nicola Coppack, as part of our learning and discussions about Bonfire Night on Wednesday. We talked about the sounds fireworks make and had a go at writing these sounds. 

Our second topic this half term is 'Once Upon a Time', where we will be looking at traditional tales. For this half term our role play area is based on the story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We had lots of fun this week playing in the role play area, wearing the masks to become a bear or goldilocks and using the different sized beds, chairs and spoons!
