Awesome Alligators - Autumn 1 - Week 6

Date: 20th Oct 2026 @ 7:22am

What another fantastic week in Year 6! The Awesome Alligators have continued to work incredibly hard and should be very proud of all they have achieved.

⭐ Star of the Week - Lexi ⭐

A huge congratulations to Lexi, our Star of the Week! We are super proud of the excellent start she has made to Year 6. Lexi,is always ready to learn and approaches every challenge with a positive attitude. Keep up the fantastic work, Lexi,!

✍️ Star Writer - Mila ✍️

This week's Star Writer is Mila. Mila has worked exceptionally hard on a beautiful setting description based in 1950s Jamaica. She used a range of relative clauses to add detail and interest to her writing, well done, Mila!

In Maths, we have continued our learning on long division and have also been exploring BODMAS. Ask your child if they can explain what BODMAS stands for and why it is so important in mathematics. We discovered that the order in which calculations are completed can completely change the answer, so understanding BODMAS is an essential skill.

This week in English we completed our setting descriptions of Grandma's House and Maroon Town in Jamaica. The quality of writing has been outstanding, with pupils using ambitious vocabulary, descriptive language and beautifully presented handwriting. We have been incredibly proud of the effort shown by all of the Alligators. Well done everyone!

Our History lesson this week involved a fun and engaging interview activity. We had interviewers and experts discussing the colonisation of Africa, and the children really brought the learning to life. There were some thoughtful questions, insightful answers and fantastic acting throughout the session. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged.

A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who attended Parents' Evening this week. It was lovely to meet with you and chat about the fantastic progress your children are making. Your continued support is greatly appreciated and makes such a difference.

Have a fabulous weekend, Awesome Alligators! We look forward to another week of hard work before the half term break.
