Awesome Alligators - Autumn 1 - Week 4

What another fantastic week it has been for the Awesome Alligators! Everyone has been working incredibly hard, showing great attitudes to their learning and producing some brilliant work.

A BIG congratulations to Naelle, our Star of the Week! 🎉 

Naelle has earned this award for her fantastic attitude towards her writing. She is always looking for ways to improve her work, listens carefully to advice and isn't afraid to seek help when she needs it. What a brilliant learning attitude to have! Well done, Naelle, keep it up!🌟 

✏️ Star Writer ✏️ 

Our Star Writer this week is Jonah!  

During our history lesson, Jonah wrote a fantastic diary entry imagining the experiences of an enslaved person living and working on an early plantation in the Caribbean. He worked really hard to bring his historical learning into his writing and produced a thoughtful and engaging diary entry. Fantastic work, Jonah!

English

This week, we have started a new focus in English, continuing our work based around Windrush Child. 

We have been developing our skills in setting descriptions, using Grandma's house as our inspiration. Throughout the week, the children have described the outside of Grandma's house, her kitchen and her living room, thinking carefully about how they can help the reader to really picture each setting. 

The Awesome Alligators have been working particularly hard on using expanded noun phrases to add detail and create vivid images. There have been some truly beautiful descriptions this week. Well done, everyone!  

Dodgeball 

We finished the week with another fun-filled dodgeball lesson! 

This week, our focus was on developing our defending skills, before putting everything we had practised into action with a couple of games. The children had great fun, and it was wonderful to see them working together and applying their new skills.  It was certainly a brilliant way to finish our Friday afternoon!
