Autumn 2 Week 6

Date: 14th Dec 2023 @ 10:47am

This week in Maths, Reception have been looking at the weight of objects.  In particular, the children have been using the correct vocabulary to discuss if something is ‘heavier’ or ‘lighter’.

The Bears started their week by exploring what would happen if we put objects in either side of the ‘balance bucket’.  Callie was very quick to point out if the object in the bucket goes down it is heavy, if it stays up it is the lighter object. Well done, Callie! Later in the week, the children became human balance buckets and had to show what the arms of the balance bucket would do once they compared a heavy and light object.  This was a lot of fun and the children did a great job of showing their understanding.

In Literacy, we have read the story of ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’.  The children really got into the spirit of Christmas and enjoyed reading about some nursery rhyme characters we had explored this half term in the book.  The Bears do make the adults laugh, they are not a fan of the Big Bad Wolf!

The children have really enjoyed Christmas crafting this week and have loved spending quality time in continuous provision.  I have seen some lovely Christmas pictures and festive messages recorded by the children.  What a great way to use your newly learnt phonemes.

It was fantastic to see so many parents at the Christmas market.  Thank you for your ongoing support.
