Week 6 Blog:
This week in English, the children have been busy writing persuasive letters to Mrs Ratcliff about healthy school lunches. They applied everything they have learned about maintaining a healthy diet and produced fantastic letters using conjunctions, persuasive language, and interesting sentence openers. Well done, everyone!
In Maths, the children recapped telling the time (o'clock, half past, quarter past, and quarter to). They then progressed to reading time to 5-minute intervals, which is trickier. The children practised making times on plastic clocks and also had a go at drawing clock hands to show different times. Ask your child if they can tell the time at home!
In PSHE, the children learned about the importance of washing their hands properly—especially important at this time of year. They explored how germs spread and how effective handwashing can help prevent illness.
In Geography, the children used atlases to locate the capital cities of European countries. See if your child can remember any of the capital cities they found! They also learned about carbon footprints and discussed simple ways they can help reduce theirs, such as turning off the tap when it’s not in use or switching off lights when leaving a room.
The children enjoyed watching this year's Panto! Next week, they will be carrying out some festive activities in the build up to breaking up on Friday.
Reminders:
-Please support your child in reading at least 3 times a week and record this in their reading diary.
-Homework is due every Thursday and the spelling test is held every Thursday.
-Ukulele lessons are every Friday - Children MUST bring their ukulele to school every Friday morning so they can partake.
-Ipads need to be recharged ready for school each day - at least 30% charge please.
-Times tables are a big focus in Year 3. Please support your child in practising their 10, 5, 2, 3 and 4 times tables. You can use Times Table Rockstars and 'Topmarks' games to support with this.
Thank you for your continued support! :)
