Autumn 2 Week 2 Sharks
Date: 16th Nov 2025 @ 7:47pm
Story Planners!
The Super Sharks have been continuing their English work based on the story ‘The magic porridge pot.’ They have been writing sentences using noun phrases to describe Hannah- the main character in the story. They have also been using time adverbials at the beginning of sentences- to make their writing flow and not keep writing the word then, then, then! At the end of the week the children planned their own version of the story- ready to begin writing next week. They shared some amazing ideas and created their own story maps.
In maths, we have moved our learning on to subtraction. At the beginning of the week, we practised counting back in 1’s from 100 and taking away a single digit number from a 2-digit number. Towards the end of the week, we practised our method work- subtracting a 2-digit number from a 2-digit number with exchanging! The children really impressed us with their understanding of the method- especially when changing Mr Tall Ten into little ones! We have also been practising our doubles up to double 12 and linking these to our 2x tables.
We have also been amazing artists this week, investing how to make secondary colours and which colours are primary ones. We used paint to create our own colour wheels and then looked at different artists to see how they used colour in their paintings. We finished off our science unit of work with a fun experiment – how best to get rid of germs from our hands. We used water, soap and water and glitter! Many of the children predicted correctly that soap and water would get rid of the most germs (glitter). It was a fun afternoon had by all!
On Friday, we finished the week all dressed in our favourite clothes- raising money for Children In Need. The children all looked wonderful!
