Autumn 1, Week 6
Date: 16th Oct 2026 @ 4:30pm
English
This week, we have been enjoying the story Oi Frog! and using word substitution to create our own funny and imaginative sentences. We have also been exploring the features of a character description, thinking carefully about how to describe different characters. Alongside this, we have been working hard to remember our basic writing skills, including capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops. Well done to all of Cheetahs for using ‘and’ for the first time to extend your sentences!
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about addition and subtraction. The children have been using a variety of methods to solve problems and explain their thinking. A special well done to Mandy for showing excellent reasoning skills and clearly demonstrating their working out by drawing the whole and crossing out the parts to find the answer. Fantastic mathematical thinking!

Topic
In Topic, we have been investigating dens and the materials that would be most suitable for building them. We explored different materials and discussed their properties, considering which materials would be strong, transparent, or flexible to make an effective shelter.
