Autumn 1 - Week 5
Date: 11th Oct 2026 @ 7:22pm
Another Incredible Week in Year 6!
It has been another incredible week in the Marvellous Meerkats, with lots of fantastic learning taking place across the curriculum.
🔢 Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about different methods for short and long division. The children have shown such a positive attitude towards learning a new method for long division and have demonstrated fantastic resilience when faced with challenging calculations. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they apply these new skills independently.
📚 English
In English, the children have been learning about personification and relative clauses. They have worked hard to apply these skills in their writing alongside our previous learning on expanded noun phrases. We have been particularly impressed with the creativity and detail the children have included in their work, helping to make their writing engaging and effective.
✨ PSHE and Black History Month
As part of our work for Black History Month, the children have enjoyed learning about Mary Seacole and her remarkable achievements. They worked hard to research her life and create informative fact files, showcasing both their historical knowledge and presentation skills.
British Sign Language (BSL)
In BSL, the children have been learning the signs for different animals and how to describe them. They have thoroughly enjoyed practising their new vocabulary and are becoming increasingly confident in their signing skills.
