Autumn 1 - Week 4

Date: 2nd Oct 2026 @ 10:04pm

It has been another fantastic week for the Marvellous Meerkats, with lots of fabulous learning taking place across the curriculum!

⭐ Star of the Week ⭐

Congratulations to Ellie-Mai, who achieved Star of the Week for her positive, can-do attitude towards her learning and for giving 100% effort in every piece of work. We are so proud of you and the determination you show each day. Keep up the super work, Ellie-Mai!

✍️ Star Writer ✍️

Well done to Hannah for achieving Star Writer for her excellent setting description. She confidently used expanded noun phrases, ambitious vocabulary, language that appealed to the senses and effective similes to create a vivid picture for the reader. Keep up the super writing, Hannah!

🔢 Maths 🔢

In Maths, the children have shown great resilience and perseverance as we completed our work on multiplication. They have worked hard to learn a new method and have successfully applied their skills to solve a range of challenging word problems. We have been particularly impressed with the determination and positive attitudes the children have demonstrated when tackling tricky questions.

📚 English 📚

In English, we have continued exploring Windrush Child by Benjamin Zephaniah. Using the text as inspiration, we have focused on writing detailed setting descriptions of Grandma's house, including the surrounding area, the kitchen and the lounge. The children have worked hard to use descriptive vocabulary and language that appeals to the five senses, helping readers to picture the setting clearly.

🌍 Topic 🌍

In Topic, the children did an amazing job of writing diary extracts from the perspective of an enslaved person. They were able to draw upon all the knowledge and understanding they have gained in previous lessons to create thoughtful and detailed pieces of writing. We were particularly impressed with how effectively they conveyed emotions and experiences, demonstrating a strong understanding of the historical period we have been studying.

Well done, Marvellous Meerkats! We look forward to another week of exciting learning ahead. 📚✨🌟
