Autumn 1, Week 3

English

 

In English, we have been writing sentences about different types of houses. This links beautifully with our Topic work on materials and our ongoing learning around traditional tales. The children have been describing houses using full sentences and thinking carefully about the materials they are made from just like the houses in The Three Little Pigs.

 

 

Maths

In Maths, we have been partitioning numbers to 10 using the part–part–whole model. The children practised breaking numbers into two parts using counters and practical resources. 

 

Topic

 

This week in Topic, the children have been exploring materials and learning how to sort them using Venn diagrams. We looked closely at different objects and grouped them by their properties, including whether they were stretchy, soft, or both. The children really enjoyed investigating and discussing what they noticed.

 

The Cheetahs really anjoyed their first Forest School session. We went on a hunt for wildlife and played a fun game of hide and seek!
