Autumn 1 - Week 2

The children have shown a fantastic attitude towards their learning this week and have worked hard to try their very best in every lesson.

In Maths, we have been learning and practising the written methods for addition and subtraction. Once we were confident with the methods, we applied our skills to solve a range of challenging word problems, carefully deciding which operation to use and checking our answers for accuracy.

In English, we have been developing our use of expanded noun phrases, metaphors and similes. These skills will help us to create engaging descriptions and expressive language as we prepare to write our diary entries next week.

In PE, the children thoroughly enjoyed working collaboratively to create paired balances. They demonstrated excellent teamwork and perseverance, refining their movements to produce some impressive, controlled balances.

In Topic, we explored the Triangular Slave Trade Journey, developing our understanding of the routes taken and the experiences of those involved. The children asked thoughtful questions and engaged sensitively with this important area of our learning.

We are incredibly proud of the effort and determination shown by the class this week and are really looking forward to the exciting learning that lies ahead next week.
