Autumn 1 - Week 1

Date: 13th Sep 2026 @ 9:41pm

It has been lovely to welcome all the children back into the classroom and we have had a wonderful week. This week, Year 6 have enjoyed a great start to their learning.

In Maths, we have been learning about place value, ordering numbers, and rounding numbers. The children have been developing their confidence when working with larger numbers and explaining their mathematical thinking.

In English, we have started exploring diary writing, learning about the key features and practising these in preparation for writing our own diary entries.

In History, we have begun our new topic, Maafa, by learning about Africa. We explored the continent's culture and diversity by researching different countries.

Well done Year 6, for your hard work and enthusiasm this week! 🌟

Writer of the Week – Samuel for independently using formal and informal language.
