Autumn 1 - Week 1

Date: 11th Sep 2026 @ 3:56pm

Welcome to Year 3!

This week, the children have read and explored the text, ‘The Stone Age Boy’. It is a story about a little boy who travels back in time to the Stone Age. The children picked out new, exciting vocabulary and learned about the features that make it exciting to read e.g adjectives and sentence starters.

In Maths, the children learned how to partition a three-digit number into hundreds, tens and ones. They also learned to order numbers from largest to smallest (descending order) and smallest to largest (ascending order). They also recapped how to use the ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’ symbols to compare numbers.

In History this week, the children learned about everyday life in the Stone Age, including how they cooked, hunted and how they lived in caves at the beginning of the Stone Age. The children also learned about Stone Age tools and how they improved during the Stone Age.

In PSHE, the children learnt about good manners and carried out some different scenarios, discussing how they’d show good manners in certain situations.

Reminders:

Please continue to support your child by reading 3 times a week.

Our P.E days are Tuesday and Thursday.
