Alligators Summer 1 week 6

Date: 22nd May 2026 @ 12:58pm

This week in Year 6 Alligators has been full of creativity, curiosity and fantastic learning!

📚 English – Letters from the Lighthouse
We have begun reading Letters from the Lighthouse and are already hooked by the story. The children have been exploring the characters, setting and themes, particularly focusing on life during World War II. There have been some thoughtful discussions and predictions about what might happen next.

✏️ Writing – Missing Person Posters
Inspired by the book, the children created their own missing person posters. They carefully considered how to use persuasive language, descriptive detail and layout features to make their posters eye-catching and effective.

🌍 Topic – Britain at War
In our history topic, Britain at War, we have continued learning about what life was like during World War II. The children have been exploring key events and understanding how the war affected people at home, linking this knowledge to our class book.

👏 Well done, Alligators!
Another fantastic week of effort and enthusiasm from everyone. Have a great half term everyone.
