Cross-Curricular Curriculum

At Reigate Park we use the online resource Curriculum Maestro to support our curriculum planning and delivery, this leads us to work within some very interesting project titles including: "Dangerous Dinosaurs", "Bright Lights, Big City" and "Frozen Kingdoms".

This approach facilitates a deep and embedded learning approach in which children are immersed in 6 Projects with Companions Projects in Early Years and 3 Projects with Companion Projects in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 throughout the year.

We use these topics to structure our Literacy work ensuring that the children have a deep and secure knowledge of the subject knowledge for their year group ensuring a deep and embedded wide range of vocabulary which they are able to draw upon throughout the projects.

Each project has four phases:

Engage

Develop

Innovate

Express

Within these the children start with a Hook to engage them into the projects; this may be a visit, a visitor or even becoming a pirate for the day.  They then move onto specific subject content linked to National Curriculum requirements for their year group. The learning is drawn together during the Innovate phase which can be anything from joining the Grand Ol’ Duke of York’s Marching Band, to becoming a Roman Soldier to raising money for the British Heart Foundation.  The projects then end with a celebration even where the children showcase their learning.

We look forward to talking to you about and showing you our learning when you visit our school.
